OneBhakthi API terms

Version 2026-10-06. Last updated 6 October 2026. What changed: the plans and prices, what the Free plan is for, and the Astrology API.

These terms are short on purpose. By making an API key you agree to them. They sit alongside the main OneBhakthi Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

What this is

The OneBhakthi API lets apps and websites read devotional content. It starts with the Bhagavad Gita in Sanskrit, English, Tamil and Hindi, and an Astrology API with the Panchang, moon dates, birth signs and horoscopes. More content, such as poojas and festivals, will follow on the same key.

Plans and prices

The pricing page lists the plans. The Free plan costs nothing. It is for personal, community and non-commercial projects, such as a temple or community website, a student project, or trying things out. If your product earns money, or you use it for a business, please choose a paid plan. If we think a key on the Free plan is being used that way, we will write to you first.

“Earns money” means sales, subscriptions, advertising or sponsorship. A temple or community group that only collects donations counts as non-commercial.

Paid plans are in early access. We agree the plan and the price with you in writing before you pay anything. We will treat you fairly:

  • No surprise bills. Nothing is ever charged unless you choose a paid plan yourself, and there are no overage charges. At your limit, calls pause until it resets.
  • A clear warning before any limit is reached. Every response shows the calls you have left, and your dashboard shows the day's use.
  • At least 30 days' notice, by email, before anything about a plan or its price changes. That includes the Free plan.
  • Easy cancellation. Your key goes back to the Free plan.
  • A refund for any charge that was our mistake. Calls that fail on our side are never counted against your limit.

Your key

  • A key belongs to the person who made it. You may make a key for each app you build.
  • Keep keys private. Do not publish them in code others can read, and do not share or sell them.
  • You can revoke a key at any time on your dashboard. It stops working at once.
  • We may suspend or revoke a key that breaks these terms or puts the service at risk. We will say why when we can, and we will listen if you think we got it wrong.

Fair use

  • Stay within your limits. On the Free plan that is 5,000 calls a day and 120 a minute for each key. Need more? See the pricing page.
  • Do not try to get around the limits or the security, and do not use the API to harm the service or other people.
  • Do not copy the whole text in bulk to publish it as your own collection.
  • Present the texts with respect. Do not alter a translation and then present it as the translator's words.

Credit the sources

Every response names the translators. Please show those credits where you show the text. A line such as “Powered by OneBhakthi API” with a link to onebhakthi.org/developers is welcome, but it is not required.

About the texts

  • Sanskrit and English come from the 1922 edition by Annie Besant and Bhagavan Das, and Tamil from Subramania Bharati. All are in the public domain.
  • Hindi is a machine translation of the English, checked verse by verse. There is no printed Hindi edition behind it, and every response says so.
  • We have worked hard to be accurate, and we fix mistakes when we find them, but we cannot promise the texts are free of errors.

About the Astrology API

  • The Panchang, moon and birth results are calculated from the positions of the Sun and Moon. They are for information and for cultural and religious use. We work hard to make them accurate and say how we checked them in the docs, but for an observance please follow your own temple or priest.
  • Horoscopes are written by AI, are labelled as AI-written, and are for guidance and enjoyment. They are not advice. Please show that label and the disclaimer that comes with them, and do not present them as written by a person.
  • Do not use any astrology result as the basis for medical, legal or money decisions, or to treat people unfairly.
  • Birth details you send to the birth endpoint travel in the request body. We use them to work out the answer and then drop them. We do not store them, do not log them, and do not repeat them in the response. Please send only what you need, and tell your own users that you are sending it.
  • For a Panchang, the place you send is used to work out sunrise. Please round coordinates to two decimal places, which is about 1 km and plenty.

No warranty

The API is provided as it is. We aim to keep it running and will tell you about big changes, but we cannot promise it will always be available or that it will never change. To the extent the law allows, OneBhakthi is not liable for losses from using it.

Privacy

  • We keep your Google email, the name and website you give for each key, and when you made and last used it. We use your email to identify your account and to contact you if something changes. We never post anything for you.
  • For each call we record the date, the endpoint, the key and, when the call comes from a browser, the website address it came from. Our own systems do not store IP addresses, and we do not store what people search for or anything about the people using your app. Our hosting provider, Vercel, may process IP addresses to keep the service safe.
  • A list of your most recent calls is kept for 7 days and shown only to you. Daily totals are kept so we can see how the API is used.
  • To delete your keys and data, email us.

Changes to these terms

If we change them in a way that matters, we will update the version above and email the address on your account.
