OneBhakthi ("we", "us", "our") connects the UK Hindu community with temples, events, poojas, and each other. This page explains what information we collect, why, and what choices you have. OneBhakthi is in soft launch — this policy will be refined as the platform grows, and any material changes will be posted here.
Information we collect
When you sign in with Google — your name, email address, and profile photo. We use this to let you post in the forum, submit events, manage your event dashboard, contribute to pooja guides, and (for site administrators) access the admin area.
When you RSVP to an event — your name, email address, and any comment you add. No account is required. The event organiser can see this information to manage attendance.
When you submit an idea, forum post, reply, event listing, or pooja contribution — the content you submit, plus your name and email if you're signed in.
When you sign up to our newsletter — your email address.
When you use OneBhakthi AI (our chat assistant) — the messages you send, which are processed to generate a response. We don't use chat messages to identify you personally.
When you ask OneBhakthi AI for a daily astrology reading — your date of birth, used only to compute your tropical sun sign. It is not stored unless you explicitly choose "Yes, save it" in the chat, in which case it's kept against your account so you don't need to re-enter it. You can remove it at any time by contacting us.
Usage data — we use Vercel Analytics, which is privacy-friendly and does not use cookies or track you across other sites.
How we use your information
To operate the platform: showing your forum posts, event listings, RSVPs, and contributions; letting event organisers see who's attending; running the admin review queue for submitted events and pooja contributions; responding to questions sent via the contact page; and sending occasional updates if you've signed up to the newsletter.
We rely on your consent where you've opted in — newsletter sign-up, event RSVPs, saving your date of birth for astrology readings, and messages to OneBhakthi AI — and on legitimate interest to run the core features of the platform, since forum posts, event listings, and contributions are visible to other users and organisers by design.
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email we send.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run OneBhakthi:
- Google — for sign-in (OAuth). We don't receive your Google password.
- Supabase — our database provider, used to store forum posts, events, RSVPs, ideas, and contributions.
- Groq — processes messages sent to OneBhakthi AI to generate responses.
- Jina AI — generates text embeddings used to power search in pooja guides. This does not involve your personal data.
- Vercel — hosts the website and provides anonymised analytics.
We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone for marketing purposes.
Some of these providers — Google, Groq, and Vercel — may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on their standard contractual clauses or other safeguards recognised under UK GDPR.
We may also disclose your information if required by law — for example, in response to a request from the police or a regulator.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in (via NextAuth/Google sign-in). Vercel Analytics does not set tracking cookies.
Keeping your information secure
Your information is stored on Supabase's secure servers, with access restricted to OneBhakthi administrators. We don't process or store payment details — for paid events, payment is handled directly by the event organiser.
How long we keep your information
We keep your information for as long as your content (forum posts, event listings, contributions) or account remains active on the platform. If you'd like your data removed, contact us and we'll action it — see "Your rights" below.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to stop using it. To do this, email contact@onebhakthi.org. We'll respond as soon as we can.
If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your information, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
OneBhakthi is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
As OneBhakthi moves from soft launch to full launch, we may update this policy to reflect new features. We'll update the "last updated" date above when we do.
